ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION OCTOBER 14, 2020 Page 16 Dave Bamberg Retires Longtime portable sanitation industry professional Dave Bamberg has officially retired. Dave had a career spanning more than three decades in the industry, beginning in 1990 when he took a position with PolyPortables. He later worked with Synergy World, serving there through both acquisitions by Altristia Incorporated and Wilbert Corporate. When that position ended, Dave accepted the role of Director of Product Development with Five Peaks Technology. Through the years he rose to the level of vice president at Five Peaks with a 10 percent ownership. Dave also had a two-year tenure at Hampel as vice president of the portable sanitation division. In more recent times, Dave rounded out his career with a second stint at Five Peaks, and then he crossed the finish line while working with Black Tie Products. Dave says, "It was not an easy decision to retire, but [I] felt that it was the right thing to do for [my wife] Pat and me. I will continue to support the PSAI and might even stop by for one of the shows to catch up." The PSAI wishes Dave all the best in his retirement. We always enjoy greeting retirees at our events and hope to see many of them in 2022 when we can (fingers crossed) again gather in person. v Scam Alert: The PSAI Does Not Sell Lists!…Continued from page 9 When in doubt about this type of scam, you should always contact the trade show organizers at the PSAI, WWETT, or whatever other show you might be attending. Ask if anyone from the hotel should be calling or if there is an outside booking representative. If what you hear doesn't square with the call you received, pass your intel on to the real organizers so they can alert others about a possible scam. In Summary • When you are registered for a conference or trade show, engage only with the association or exhibition firm that is running the event. • Keep in mind that these legitimate parties might have your information, but they would probably not release your personal contact information to others. Always check their information sharing policies to be sure. • Exhibitors might get the contact information for attendees, which you can opt out of. Most of this is harmless—maybe even desirable—but that doesn't mean that scammers posing as list sellers are innocuous. • Therefore, don't open their emails or respond to them. "Just say no," as the saying goes, and go about your day as usual. Questions? Let us know at info@psai.org.
