Companies are more than restroom units, service trucks, and other physical assets. Companies are built upon the people that work to make the company exist. When a firm is sold, there are impacts on the employees—whether or not the selling owner recognizes it. How employees and owners handle those impacts has a lot to do with people's work lives, tenure, and the ultimate success of the company. To get to the bottom of that experience, we talked to several people who lived through the sale that happened at their company. Our intention was to bring this information to light so that owners who consider selling or buying can better take employee considerations into account. It may also be helpful for companies thinking about hiring an employee leaving a competitor firm that has been sold, and for employees who may face a sale situation in the future.
