Preston sees "a shift away from larger trailers, and two, three, and four stall trailers are becoming more popular." He says, "The smaller trailers make controlling crowd flow easier; it's also easier to clean and to sanitize at the event." Royal Restrooms' COVID-19 procedures include "sanitizing and disinfecting in the yard with an approved botanical solution." He continues, "We are seeing more attendants than before due to the clients' wish for cleaning during the event." On their website, Royal Restrooms has created a "Purple Shield CDC Sanitation Promise" to demonstrate their commitment to proper cleaning protocols for their customers. Having seen the growth of the trailer market in the last five to seven years, Preston sees the need for "more hand wash trailers where it's applicable and cost effective." COVID-19 will indeed end at some point, and this type of trailer will need to be creatively marketed in other market segments. Preston shares the concern that there are currently no ADA-compliant portable sinks being sold as well as the challenges with providing "separate but equal facilities" such as an ADA unit on the ground next to a non- accessible restroom trailer. "Cover this with the customer and, given financial concerns and possible local government citations, perhaps putting ten portable event units and that ADA unit on the ground will eliminate the concern." Craig Ray—Texas Outhouse, Houston, Texas Craig is the special events director and technical consultant for Luxury Event Trailers, a division of Texas Outhouse. From his perspective, Craig sees "a completely different market for trailers due to COVID-19." The company has had "a decrease in trailer rental for large events but smaller trailers are still in demand." In fact, "commercial trailers from two to 10 stalls are now popular in refineries and at chemical processing plants, as an example." Trailers are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before rental "but we do not provide janitorial cleaning on long rentals." The company discusses this in advance with the customer and the customer can then tailor their own cleaning based on the work schedule and heavy usage times. Craig sees the demand for smaller trailers continuing if the COVID-19 pandemic is still prevalent. "Small trailers on long-term commercial projects will still exist during this period. We have one large commercial job at a plant where we have small trailers positioned in several key positions as well as near the lunchroom facility." He has a great suggestion for other operators: "Try to look at clients that host smaller events and begin to market to these potential customers." It will be some time before traditional events are safe, and the public is comfortable attending larger gatherings. Fortunate in having dodged Hurricane Laura, Craig also wisely suggests marketing the uses of trailers in emergency situations. Operators should apply and complete the necessary paperwork on a local, state, and federal government level to provide trailers in a time of need. Craig Ray
