ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION MAY 13, 2020 Page 2 Requiring hand wash stations and/or hand sanitizers wherever portable toilets are needed is a great start on the journey toward better health and experiences all around. This brings to me to highlight just one of the many Public Information and Advocacy Committee (also known as the Education Initiative or EI) goals we are currently working on: Launch the "Top Tier Toilet" campaign, which will include a number of tactics (e.g., letters/collateral, social media, and others) aimed at educating event planners and the public about excellence in portable sanitation. I try to write one to two blogs a month for my company in hopes that at least one of my messages will eventually impact the readers enough to remember it. Whether you serve on the EI committee or not, our message will affect more people if we all participate in this movement. So watch future newsletters and emails for ways you and your company can get involved. Here is a snapshot of what our Standards and Guidance Committee is working on. • Update the PSAI's Standards Development Procedures and obtain ANSI approval by the July 31, 2020 ANSI deadline. • Update operational standards for portable sanitation technicians by August 31, 2020. • Update our three ANSI standards by December 31, 2020. • Create a plan for developing a standard for the operation of portable restroom trailers, and other specialty trailers, by June 30, 2021. For those who have PSAI Certified Service Technicians, I am sure you noticed a little more pep in their step once they accomplished this goal. Not only does this raise the bar in our industry, it's a great morale booster for your team. Our Training Committee has been doing a phenomenal job working on our Train-the-Trainer series. I know I am super excited to complete this myself so I can get all of my technicians certified. We want you!! If you have a strong operational background within your company, Standards and Guidance and/or the Training Committees want you on their team. Seriously! Our Members Business Success team—another group of committee volunteers—really has the Virtual Roundtables (VRTs) dialed in tight. Wendy Cross, Trevor Inman, and John Marcucci have really done an outstanding job pulling this off. If you haven't been on our weekly COVID-19 calls, you are missing out. In addition to providing timely and thought-provoking information to our current Members through the VRTs, we are working tirelessly to recruit and mentor new Members. If you or someone within your company loves sales and marketing (those who do tend to be "people people"), this committee is a perfect fit, and all are welcome to join it. Thank you to our suppliers that bring in new Members as well. We sincerely appreciate you. Our Events Committee/SWAT Team is also hard at work making our combined Convention and Trade Show and Nuts & Bolts event scheduled for November 2020 bigger and better than ever. We are adding new hands-on deliverables so more people will want to come. AND…the more attendees we will have, the more opportunities our suppliers have to build relationships and sell the wonderful products we all love so much.
