SURVEY OF WASTE DISPOSAL OPTIONS & THEIR IMPACT ON THE PORTABLE SANITATION INDUSTRY
© Copyright 2020 by the PSAI. All rights reserved.
The individuals who completed the survey from each company were predominantly owners (68.3%) and managers (23.3%).
These are personnel who are in a position to know the specifics of the company's disposal operations and the difficulties it
has faced. Respondent companies represented a wide range of longevity, with 10% having been in business fewer than five
years, and more than half with twenty years or more of experience.
Respondent companies appear to be representative in terms of the volume of waste they dispose annually. They range from
fewer than 250,000 gallons per year to more than 4 million gallons per year, with monthly volumes ranging from fewer than
5,000 gallons to more than 250,000 gallons of disposed liquid waste. It must be noted, though, that portable sanitation
companies are generally small, local operations. About 57% dispose of less than 25,000 gallons of waste per week during
their peak season, and 73% dispose of that quantity during their slow season.
