The PSAI 2020 Board Election Opens
Ballots are open January 22 to February 14, 2020
It's time for the 2020 PSAI Board election! As a Member of the PSAI,
your company gets to help choose the volunteers who play an import-
ant role in moving our organization forward. This year we have a total
of nine candidates for five open positions. We are seeking four new
operator Board members and one non-operator Board member. Meet
the candidates and learn about the ballot process on page 2.
Voting in the Election
Every Member company is entitled to one vote. In December, the
PSAI sent letters to each company to identify who should receive
the ballot access information. If you did not receive that letter,
please contact info@psai.org to confirm the email address of your
voter. Today, each previously confirmed voter will receive an email
containing specific access information for the electronic ballot.

The ADA Turns 30:
Requirements for Portable Sanitation
By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director
2020 marks the 30th anniversary
of the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA). Since its enactment in
1990, this landmark legislation has
brought sweeping modifications
to industries as varied as portable
sanitation, transportation,
construction, event management,
and education. Together, the changes effectively freed people
with special needs to become fully engaged members of our
communities.
1
Since the ADA and its application to portable sanitation is one
of the most asked-about topics at the PSAI, this is a timely
opportunity to review its requirements for our industry.
1 This article covers ADA requirements. Most nations have laws similar to the ADA, and United Nations members typically sign the UN
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). For a list of international laws related to meeting the needs of the disabled,
please visit Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund.
