Charmin's Sense of Humor Tickles Showing their fun side at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Charmin introduced the V.I.Pee. Pictured at right, this portable toilet design is fully equipped with an Oculus Rift VR headset. The idea is to help patrons stay "front and center" at any event they attend, even when they need to use the bathroom. Most tech experts agree that this is an interesting if troubling idea, but also likely an early April fool's joke. Read the full story here. Toilet Paper Pyramid Keeps Students Grounded Robotics students at Bullock Creek High School in Midland, Michigan used more than 27,000 rolls of toilet paper to make a 16-foot high pyramid. They believe their engineering feat will garner them the new Guiness World Record for the tallest toilet paper pyramid. Once all the record-making is done, reports the robotics team mentor, the students will get to sell the rolls as a fundraiser! Read the full story here. ISO Promotes International Portable Sanitation Standards In honor of World Toilet Day last November, the ISO (Internation Standards Organization) published a list of standards that apply to world sanitation concerns. ISO 30500, established in 2018, offers general safety and performance requirements related to the design and testing of non-sewered sanitation systems. A 2016 standard provides guidelines for managing basic on-site wastewater services. The ISO is currently developing a new standard regarding safety and performance requirements for faecal sludge treatment units. Read the full story here.
