WEEKLY EDITION OCTOBER 9, PAGE 10 YEAR END EDITION DECEMBER 26, 2019 Championing Sanitation Worldwide By Todd Ginter, PSAI Marketing Manager, continued from page 1 The Urgent Run The PSAI held its first "Urgent Run" at the 2017 Nuts & Bolts Educational Conference in Minneapolis. The 5K Run/Walk aims to raise awareness about the lack of proper sanitation worldwide, and raise money to support global sanitation efforts. After three successful years, the PSAI has no intention of slowing down. Much of this year's Urgent Run success can be attributed to Urgent Run co-chairs Lindy Boehme from CPACEX and Jennifer Corrigan with JW Craft. Volunteers and runners are also integral to the event's success, as are the sponsors. This year's Champion Sponsor, Satellite Industries, helped the PSAI raise funds to support two deserving charities—Houston Food Shelf and Karibu Loo, each of which received $3,500. Satellite Industries' Legacy Founded in 1958 by Al Hilde, Jr., Satellite grew from a simple belief in the importance of human dignity. While serving in the US Army overseas and then back home attending outdoor sporting events, Hilde noticed the lack of adequate toilet facilities. He firmly believed that portable toilet services would be an essential and decent service for many. Sixty-two years later, extending its impact and efforts to an international level as a global portable sanitation partner, Satellite's mission has remained the same. It aims to provide quality restrooms that offer convenience, privacy, and dignity. Projects in India and Africa have expanded Satellite's reach. In India, Satellite works with SaraPlast/3SIndia (https://www.3sindia.com/), an organization working to provide clean sanitation solutions to some of the country's most impoverished areas. As John Babcock, President of Satellite Industries, explains, "We work with local manufacturing partners to provide the lowest, landed cost product to support the market growth and create micro-finance opportunities for small-scale portable sanitation operators to develop the industry." Efforts in Africa have been aimed at greatly improving the health and hygiene standards in impoverished areas. For example, Satellite's international team has been helping to provide portable restrooms for those affected by Cyclone Idai and similar events. Many areas of the African continent do not have portable sanitary services or clean water. Without these basic services, residents are prone to contracting waterborne diseases that can be fatal, especially for children. Michelle Amelse, Director of Marketing at Satellite Industries, sums up the Satellite legacy this way: "Our customers, our employees, and our earth mean more to us than a fraction of a cost saving. On top of that, we have created a variety of eco-friendly solutions that we're proud to offer in our service line up. When you choose to do business with Satellite Industries, you're choosing a company that cares about people and the world we all share." CONTINUED ON PAGE 12
