WEEKLY EDITION DECEMBER 18, 2019 PAGE 3 Association Insight to Publish Bi-Weekly in 2020 Staff support the move to bi-weekly newsletters as well. The less frequent publishing schedule will allow writers and contributors extra time to invest in more thorough articles and commentary. With fewer issues of Association Insight, staff will also have more time to devote to other value-add projects for Members. In the first quarter of 2020, these include: • The survey on disposal in portable sanitation currently slated for release in January 2020. • A new participant guide for the Basic Service Technician Training Series. • A Train-the-Trainer curriculum. "The PSAI is focused on maximizing the value we provide to Members," says Executive Director Karleen Kos. "As the industry consolidates and reorganizes, we have to get more done with the resources available to us. Moving to a bi-weekly publishing schedule for Association Insight allows staff and volunteers to do that without negatively affecting the benefits Members receive." The PSAI will supplement bi-weekly newsletters with periodic emails and social media postings that will help Members stay up to date on important events in the portable sanitation industry. "We also plan to stay flexible and listen to our stakeholders," adds Kos. The PSAI's annual industry survey, due to be released in April, will seek feedback on the new publishing schedule. "If Members tell us they value a return to the weekly publishing schedule, we will certainly take that very seriously. We exist to promote the portable sanitation industry and help solve its problems. At present we think we can get the most 'bang for the buck' by moving to a bi-weekly schedule. If we're wrong, we'll make further changes based on what we hear." Association Insight has been published weekly (51 issues a year) since May 2014. Traditionally, the last two weeks of each year over Christmas and New Years have been handled in a single, combined issue. Thus, to finish out 2019 there will be newsletters December 18 and December 26. The bi-weekly schedule begins January 8. Members and stakeholders who wish to submit material for the newsletter should consult the online publication calendar and deadlines. For more information, contact Karleen Kos at karleenk@psai.org.
