The contract was signed in late October 2019. It covers the Ontario-specific adaptation and delivery of three classes which collectively comprise the PSAI's Basic Service Technician Training Series. These include: • Transportation and Logistics in Portable Sanitation, • Cleaning and Maintaining Portable Sanitation Equipment, and • Health, Safety, and Professional Excellence in Portable Sanitation. The contract also covers provision of an Ontario version of the PSAI's updated credentials for portable sanitation apprentices and professionals. OASIS has worked with the Ontario Ministry of Labor (MOL) to have the courses and credentials recognized by provincial authorities. Going forward, OASIS will offer the courses periodically throughout Ontario. The certification examinations will be proctored locally but administered through a web-based platform. PSAI Executive Director Karleen Kos says, "An important part of the PSAI's core mission is to serve as the authority within our industry in establishing and evolving best practices. We have put an enormous amount of work into developing these programs, and we couldn't be more delighted by this partnership. Working with OASIS we will reach more portable sanitation providers and ensure that what we are teaching is aligned with local requirements." The OASIS Portable Toilet Committee worked with the PSAI to make sure training and testing materials are aligned with Ontario law. All represent companies that are members of the PSAI.
