"I could talk all day about what's going on in the community and what everybody is doing," Bentley says warmly. "Giving back is a way to strengthen the community." With Thanksgiving upon us, the PSAI is thankful to all Members who value and know the importance of either giving back to their local area or doing something good to help those around them. If you have been hoping to get your business more involved in giving back but aren't sure how to do it, maybe you can be inspired by Jan and what her company is doing. CONTINUED ON PAGE 8 PPE: Wha t to Do W hen t he Tea m Say s "Nop e" By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director Since the early 1990s the PSAI has identified four items of personal protective equipment (PPE) that service technicians should wear in the field. This minimum standard includes: • Waterproof boots with steel toes or other hard toes • Waterproof gloves • Eye protection • Hard hats In addition to the minimum standards, the Association recognizes that the job often calls for other protective equipment. Reflective vests are common and some job sites mandate Tyvek suits. And then there's real life. Employees don't always comply with company requirements. This behavior is unacceptable since it puts the employee at risk and places the company—and its insurer—in a terrible position. What can you do? CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
