You may have to be persistent to get their attention. As long as you are doing the collections yourself, you are not a "debt collector" as defined in the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, but it is still a good idea to be aware of what that law allows because some states extend these protections more broadly. No one wants to accept less money than is owed, but it may be the better option than not getting paid at all or burning up more time chasing the customer over many months. In the end, your goal should be to get as much of what is coming to you as possible as quickly as possible. Only you can decide when the tradeoffs are worth it. -KK PAGE 19
