A group of enthusiastic early risers gathered in
Houston's Memorial Park on Thursday morning,
November 7 for the third annual Urgent Run. The 5K
event is a fun walk/run that gives people a chance to
exercise, connect, and raise money for worthy
causes. Despite foreboding weather, everyone
finished the course in good time and made it back
to the hotel before the heavens dumped heavy rains
on the area.
The western US was well represented in the
winner's circle this year. Carl Arriola from
PortaPros in Boise, Idaho, was the first person
across the finish line this year. He was followed
shortly by Jaya Krishnan of A-Throne, Long Beach,
California.
Other participants covered the course at a more
leisurely stroll. Here Dawn Weaver (left) and
Marcy Peterson from Arnold's Environmental
Services power walk across the finish line, while
Joe Payne from Terry's Pumpin' and Potties
trails a short distance behind. In the distance are
a dozen or more other walkers making their way
around the beautiful course.
