W EEKLY EDITION JUNE 12, 2019 The Importance and Value of Portable Sanitation By Kelsey Cross , 2019 PSAI Scholarship Winner I would like to share with you how I feel portable sanitation has great value and importance. I started working as an Office Clerk at Arnold's Environmental Services when I was 16 until I graduated from West Bend East in 2018. I am now a student at Winona State U niversity and am still able to work part time whe n I am home on breaks. When I first started at Arnold's, I knew about portable restrooms and the obvious needs for them, but I had no idea of the magnitude of this industry in our area. One of my job require ments is to do all the scanning and filing of the company work orders. The amount of work that gets assigned and completed in one day is quite impressive! The vast impact and need for portable sanitation just in our area is something we are proud of. Watching how hard our drivers and yard staff work at getting all these units cleaned and ready, and th en loaded up and delivered, gives me a who le new respect for the work and how important it is. I think about how each one of our units is being placed somewhere that is helping people do their jobs more efficiently, work that is needed so we can have hom es to live in or new company buildings that will provide even more jobs for others. Another reason that portable sanitation is so important is it allows us to go outdoors and enjoys our community events, l ocal parks and natural areas. If we didn't have the se portable solutions available to us the germs and illness that would spread would be detrimental. It would get into our water sources and not only be harmful to people, but to wildlife and vegetation. The negative impact from that would be devastating. P AGE 3 CONTINUED ON PAGE 4
