Nobody likes to lose a great employee. It hurts the
business, it hurts personally, and it is a giant pain in the
neck to figure out what to do next. Even if the employee
gives notice and leaves "the right way," you still have to
deal with recruitment and hiring during times when there
aren't many candidates to be found. You are losing
institut ional knowledge, and your customers are losing an
important connection with your company. Team
functioning, productivity, and morale can droop if the
departure isn't handled well. Pretty soon, others are
eyeing the door too.
