T he Fourth Edition of Dirtybird Campout
a S uccess
Returning to Northern California this year the Dirtybird Campout West
Coast 2018 was a huge success! Dirtybird, billed as a summer camp for
adults attempts to transport dreamers and doers back to carefree days
of childhood. What made it a success ? Many things actually, but the
real winner was that the Modesto reservoir, while causing some extra
walking, could accommodate big trucks….you know the ones…the
pumper trucks used to clean portable restrooms.

Service Resistant
That is a new category to add to the socio - economic cohorts such
as Gen - x and Millennial. It refers to a growing number of people
who choose not to take advantage of shelter services. In spite of
the lack of portable sanitation in any form, they cite safety
concerns, bedbugs, not allowing service dogs among the many
reasons most prefer to stay on the street. Recently, Denver
attempted a clean up and found out just how hard it can be to
move folks into shelters.
